In the late 19th century, Zafar Jang (1865–1906), a Paigah nobleman with a keen fascination for astronomy, acquired two powerful telescopes. These instruments later became the foundation of an observatory established in 1908 and named in honour of Nizam Mahbub Ali Khan. Situated in Ameerpet, this once-vibrant hub of astronomical study now lies in quiet decay.
Join us as we uncover the forgotten legacy of this historic observatory. The event will feature infographics and conversations around a curated collection of digitised Arabic and Persian manuscripts on cosmology from the Muslim world, shedding light on centuries of scientific thought. A selection of themed postcards and posters will also be available for purchase.
